Apple Sets July 7 Cutoff Date For iPhone App Store Launch
Posted by Jason Chen at 9:45 AM on July 3, 2008

If you want to get your iPhone App into the App Store in time for the July 11 launch, you'll have to submit it by July 7. That's next Monday. If you're one of those kids who always does their homework at the last second, we suspect there's going to be less BBQ and more "OMGWTFBBQ we're not done!" this weekend. And there's no copying off the smart kid now either, so we don't want to see Super Monkey Ball and Super Orangutan Ball turn up next Friday. Of course you don't absolutely have to be there at launch, but there's a much higher chance of more press coverage if you are. Don't forget to look at our App Contest as well. [MacRumors]

right after I read the words "press coverage" I knew that every day for the rest of eternity, we will be bombarded with news on new iPhone apps.
Now I have to buy an iTouch, great.

Oh No! I still have to learn how to program and come up with an idea! At least I've already done the hard part - downloading the SDK.

@tucker: I lied. I actually have an idea. It's not great, but you can have it, if you want.

Damn. I was getting sick of Super Monkey Ball on so many platforms too. I would gladly look forward to Super Orangutan Ball. Snicker.
Hmm...I hope maybe a decent shooter, either Metal-Slug or FPS comes out. Don't think FPS would work too well on iPhone. I mean, they haven't even figured it out (a winning formula) on the DS....or the Wii...

I know typepad did a demo at wwdc, does anyone know if wordpress is going to have a similar app?

@CutePuppyz: Yes they have. You need to see some footage on WWDC or better yet check it out at Apple. It will change what you think gaming can be on a phone.

We have an app ready, but we are waiting for being registered still. Are you in the same situation?
We will be releasing the iPhone App WhatTasks: Know WHAT to-do, WHEN to-do it and WHERE !
WhatTasks brings you the easiest way to go through your to-dos: the WHAT/WHEN/WHERE approach. It lets you organize and visualize your tasks by lists, due dates and contexts. And more than that: everything within one unified interface, one click away.
Not just another GTD app, but the Getting Things Done for the rest of us.
So we would like to invite you to check it out and post your comments and suggestions:
We really hope you like it. And we also hope we are able to send our App to Apple's review as soon as possible.

@Ken_Darrow: I have. I saw the Quake game running on LAN. It was ok.
I want something quirky. Portal portable?
We'll see what devs go in the tubes soon enough.
